Wow, that quite a couple of bombshells in this issue.  It's been posted
elsewhere here about Papyrus (short story: Red Sox owner helped Kaemmer buy
back thier code). (page 96 for those of you heading to a newsstand)

The other news is Image Space Inc's new game, rFactor.  It is going to be "a
mixed-class circuit road racer" with "a target audience of PC race-sim
aficionados, car enthusiasts, full-time racers, and even professional racing
schools."  Even better, it should be out before the end of the year. (page 49)

Sounds awesome, surprised no one else reported that.

What's up with the entire sim racing development community pulling its
shit together all at once?  I'm almost expecting a new update on
west-racing.com.

I could have said something about new LFS/Netkar/Racer updates, but
the Wests are easier targets. =)

What's up with Racer?  Is it still in development?  I thought the
developer had moved on and is now working for the West brothers.

Here's the link to rFactor (but not much there yet).

I'm hoping that they're making a Gran Turismo for the PC.

Well they were all able to shed corporate shackles at about the same
time.  I'm sure there has been plenty of inovation squashed by the bean
counters.  Now that a Flight Simulator business model is in the works, they
can work on a core product and sell addons without having to meet corporate
schedules of a product each season.

Do we owe this new-found freedom to the mod groups?

Racer is in good health, and last I heard Ruud even made some money
off it as the basis of a motion platform.

Cheers,

Screenies of new and updated cars and tracks have been posted for a few
weeks, with the devs stating that S2 should be released towards the end of
the year.

Not much is right...I hope they put something other than the noise on there
soon as it sounds quite promising.

I think the word got out.  We're TIRED of "CC"(tm).   That's Console Crap.

Not possible.

If the Racer developer was able to drive to the Wests development studio,
they would have proven they were WAY too fast to be a part of the team, and
would have been immediately fired.
