Do they still make the red one?
And... What are the primary differences between the two?

No, and the primary difference is the steel ball bearings in the
steering shaft of the Red one vs the stick shift (as well as paddles) on
the Racing.

Overall the Racing Force has the same or better FF, and I believe it
uses optical pots which should be less prone to spiking. However the
Original Momo is much better designed & more robust, for example it has
alumunium paddles rather than plastic, and a leather wheel rim rather
than ***/plastic.

There's little to complain about with the Racing compared to the red
one, but given the choice between the two the original is the one to go
for every time.

I have this wheel and pedal setup in fact I have 2.......... Logitech
sent me another one after the first one wouldnt stay calibrated
(accelerator). It sux loosing 15-20 percent of oyu throttle on lap 30 of
a 40lap race.......... Both wheels do it and I have tried every thing
posted on the net to fix the calbration problem, short of doing the fix
consisting os tearing into the wheel and doing the black tape thing.
Logitech knows there is a prob with this wheel................
I race exclusivly on NASCAR 2003 online so cant say if it does it on
other sims.

I would not buy another one. In fact I'm off today and will call
LOgitech  and see if I can get another one sent, since i'm still within
my 1 year warranty. Logitech does have 5 star customer support though.

So if your in nback of me and I slow down I'm just
shifting ignition boxes!! (unplugging/replugging the accelorator cable)
to reset the accelertator. Getting pretty good at it btw................

Gotta love Logitech. Wheel # 3 in the mail as a replacement. Even told
him about the web site for fixes:

http://web.axelero.hu/mozso/momo_m.html

Asked me to take my first wheel apart and try the fix and call him
back!!

FWIW, the site you provide a link for is for repairs to the MOMO "Racing" wheel.
The red MOMO that the OP referred to is the MOMO "Force".

Even so, that site is very informative for owners of the MOMO Racing Wheel.

I have both, but use the MOMO Force.  I had originally bought the MOMO Racing wheel,
but the paddle shifter crapped out after 6 weeks.  I contacted Logi for a
replacement, but they originally didn't have any in stock.  Being an impatient sort,
I found the MOMO Force for sale at Newegg, and bought it.  (This was about a year
ago).  About 2 months later, Logi sent me my replacement MOMO Racing.

I agree that Logi's customer support is excellent.

There is a beta software fix that I have been using for a couple of
weeks now..and most likely well over a thousand virtual miles.  And it
has finally kept my pedal from losing calibration.  Look for the other
momo thread here for a bunch of links. Yes I said a software fix for a
hardware problem....go figure.

Does anyone know if the circuitry / plugs for this wheel are the same as the
leather MOMO? I re-wired my pedals to CH pro and would consider trying this
model out or keeping for a spare if the plugs are the same. Also, how do the
two wheels compare?

Thanks,
DN

Bill,

Which wheel are you having problems with, the black "racing" one or the red
"force" one?

Different wiring.  Not sure of the pinouts but the Force has the power
supply in the pedals and the Racing has it in the wheel.  The Force uses a
25 pin connector and the racing uses a 9 pin.

I like the FF feel of the racing a bit more but the Force seem much more
solid.

Gotta agree with you here.  The FF on the "Racing" has a real nice feel IMO
(when core.ini's etc are properly tuned), but the "Force" wheel just simply is
more sturdy.

OK dumb question time. When the red Momo gets here will I need to install
different software or just plug that sucker in and run with the existing
profiler software that I use with the black one? Thx
