If the game went gold on the 13/07/00 then how/why were the circuits
modified 3 days later, the answer?:
Class 'touched' or modified the files (Touch is a utility to change
file modified dates).
Now why would the piratez need to modify the circuit data? Surely not
for anti-warez protection?
Now look at the modified dates for the jams, the majority (but not all)
are for 03/07/00
and all dates/times differ only by a matter of minutes. and 2 Jam files
have 14/07/00 file mod date (suzgras1.jam & suzedge1.jam)
again 1 day after going gold.
My opinion, and thats all this is, is that the piratez***ed up and
didn't set the clock correctly when modifying the circuit file dates,
and the reason they modified these files because there age probably gave
away there true age.
Funny how the readme also is modified 17/07/00, covering tracks again?
BTW, to the ppl that think that the Version 1.00 in the about screen is
full proof of warez=final then go find out abouit Adobe premiere 5.5
It doesn't exsist outside piracy, yet suckers who got it from warez
sites tell everyone that proof that its 'official' is the fact that the
splash screen, about box, readme and even the help file ALL state ver
5.5, yet you won't find a single word about 5.5 at adobe.
Of course we'll all know on friday.

If this point has been covered before by someone else, what was the
summary as to ppl's feelings about the file dates?
Alan.

Although I really, really, REALLY hope that the realease version of
GP3 is much better than the warez release, I think people are deluding
themselves if they think the "final" will be any kind of sunstantial
improvement over this.
The summary is that should the "final" indeed be different,
lots of people will simply download it again on Friday.
Whatever.
Games are pretty much locked down once they go beta. Only bugfixes and
minor stuff go in after then.

The final verdict will be that this warez version is indeed
the version everyone will find in the box.

You see I wasn't party to the hype, only really subbed to r.a.s. to see
other opinions and get urls for mods etc. ( I wanna see my Willams in
Compaq white damnit! not red!)
It runs a dream on my PIII 650 at 1024/768 res.
No bugs encountered yet, (2 40 lap races completed)
Took some configuration to get rid of the 'on rails' feeling, but as
soon as I reduced 'steering help to 0%' & upped the lock to 20 Deg. in
Controller setup (*not* the driving aid! - Makes a HUGE diff. IMHO) and
got my Ferrari FF working.
It may not be GPL, but then I have too much of a Real Life to get on
with to take *** that seriously.
My major gripe though, getting round the track with 3 wheels and then
pitting for 10.2 secs and having all damage repaired, This I think
proves that GP3 is a sim only in the marketing depts sense of the word.
Neat driving GAME though.

% f1-2000 was quite an impovement on the beta i remember tho..
Actually I think the warez was an alpha and the release was a beta (and
still is in beta stage).....
They may have called it "beta" but it acted like a "alpha" and while they
say the released copy is an omega..... it's a long way from that...
