N2: Rendititon/DMA Problem

by Jimmy and Lis » Sat, 22 Mar 1997 04:00:00

From a friend of mine....:
 >>To all:

I am having a problem running the DMA version of Nascar2.  I have
upgraded the bios on the 10 day old motherboard and I am using the
Screamin' 3D video card. The normal rendition mode works OK, but when
the DMA version runs(only for a short time) it runs great. I have
contacted Sierra and the motherboard company and both can't seem to
help.  I have run the DMA test program and I get values of 79M/sec. But
when I run the DMADIAG program it says my system can't run DMA. Anyone
out there who has had the same problem and has fixed it, please email me
with some help.

  Can anyone help?  Thanks!

I had trouble running DMA without first booting Windows 95.  It appears
that the Triton chipset
gets reprogrammed by Windows 95 thereby enabling DMA support on the PCI
bus.  DMA
diag still complains - but N2 runs fine in DMA mode.
