ICR2/N2: DMA,Rendition ?

Can ICR2 Rendition run in DMA mode on a Cyrix CPU? If so,
what utilities do I need? I am running a p166+ Cyrix.

What about Nacar2 (renddma.bat), I have heard people are
doing this on Cyrix.

Neither one will work on my Cyrix.  BTW, by placing a borrowed
Intel in, both work fine.

You can run it in DMA mode. I can anyway. I have been able to run it
with 166+ and the newest PR200M2. It seems the main board decides if you
can or not. I used to have a 430VX-main board. It didn't run DMA. I
swapped with a newer board (430TX), it worked right on! It seems like
the main boards have varying support for Cyrix.

BtW, you can't compare the INDYSAFE with INDYFAST. The DMA version is
way better, the graphics must be seen (steady 30 fps).

You can try using a BIOS tweaking utility:
http://miro.pair.com/tweakbios/

You can use this BIOS util to turn DMA on and off. I haven't used it
much, I just thought you might try out.

Yeah, as I said the older boards don't have full compatability with
Cyrix. You could try downloading a newer BIOS for your main board as
well.

I hope this is of some value for you, I have struggled quite a bit
myself with these issues...

ICR2/N2: DMA,Rendition ?

I had a P166+ Cyrix.  I was able to run Nascar 2 renddma, but my T2
steering was WAY too sensitive.  Also, coming out of turn 4 on most
tracks the car would pull left real bad, then with the sensitive
steering I'd overcorrect half the time.  This steering issue is a known
problem with Cyrix and Rendition combination.  The Cyrix patch program
I've seen on "The Pits" (a small executable you run to fool applications
into thinking it's running a Pentium) never worked for me.

As far as ICR2, I only ever got indysafe to work.  Did some research and
found that indyfast doesn't work with Cyrix chip.

Anyway... the steering problem became a REAL problem once NROS came
about.  Kept getting involved in too many accidents early on.  I pulled
the Cyrix out and plugged in a Pentium 200 (non-MMX as my motherboard
doesn't support MMX), changed one jumper setting and my life on NROS is
much better.  Went from 7-8 LPI up to 18.xx LPI in a very short time.

There is a patch for ICR2 on gamespot.com which is supposed to correct some
of the problems running the game with a Cyrix chip.  Don't know if it works
however

You might try here http://www.sequoia-dev.com/Hawaii/latenite.html and d/l
