GPL- Sound Pack/Unpack?

by Stephen Barnet » Sun, 30 May 1999 04:00:00

I have just downloaded a great GPL sound file from
http://www.racesimcentral.net/
in both the full DAT File version, and individual wav. files that come with
the Pack/Unpack utility. I understand how to use the Pack/Unpack utility,
but given that simply putting individual wav. files into the GPL sound
folder gives the new sound, why is it advisable / necessary to use the Pack
utility? Is it simply a 'good housekeeping' exercise, or am I missing
something vital? Hope somebody can help,
Steve

There is no need to do so.

There is no need to modify the sound.dat file.  Just put the wav
files into your gpl/sound directory.  However, if you are curious
(like me), you can use the Unpack utility to extract the original
Papyrus files.
