N2002: How do i unpack sound.dat?

by Luke Phillip » Wed, 23 Oct 2002 13:40:15

After playing NT2003 for a bit and quite liking it even tho the tracks seem
"a little" inaccurate (unlike alot of people on this newsgroup who seem to
think they cannot make any exceptions for a game whatsoever, if its not
perfect its a POS), the internal car sound in the game is really awesome.
Ive driven in high powered small block 8's before and it is far more
accurate than N2002's. N2002 sounds like its doing 6000rpm when its at its
9000max which makes it sound like its not working hard but in NT2003 it
really screams. But NT2003's external sound is very laugable, sounds like
the sample was taken from a car with 1/2 its exhaust under water. So anyway,
what i was looking to do was use the internal sound from NT2003 in N2002 and
the external sound from N2002 in NT2003, how can i extract N2002's sound.dat
file?

Do a search for "doodat", I think you can get it at the "Pits"...

Or get Nigel's excellent DatX-program - also to be found at the Pits.
