Screamin 3D help needed please.

by Mick » Tue, 31 Dec 1996 04:00:00

To all,
I installed my Screamin 3D card but I can't get it to work. It will
boot up OK until it gets to the "desktop" then the screen is
scrambled.  I'm using Win95 on my 1995 Acer 100MHz pentium, 24 MB. My
old video card was a STB Horizon+ PCI (Cirrus Logic). I can use the
new Screamin 3D card if I load the "Standard VGA" drivers. Also, I got
the updated BIOS from the Sierra site and that doesn't fix it either.
The manual says something about frequency or refresh rates, but I know
nothing about how to reset or change them. If anyone knows of a fix
for my problem, please let me know. Thanks in advance,
Mick

To all:
Well, I finally got it to work by changing my resolution to 800x600.
It still scrambles if I try to set it to 640x480. Anyone know a fix
for that?? Thanks in advance.
Mick
Now that the card is working, I wonder if my N2 will ren in rendition
mode??

Mick, wish you had used a valid email address so I wasn't clogging up
the newsgroup (I doubt this is a widespread problem/solution)...

My 3 year old monitor has a problem synching at certain frequencies
(started just after it passed through its one year warranty ;).
Usually in straight DOS or Windows 640 x 480.  For Windows, I prefer
800 x 600, so its not a problem.  When I *need* to get it to work, I
simply turn the monitor off and on, and it comes back in sync.
Maybe this will help your problem.  BTW, this monitor has behaved the
same way on my DX2/66 - Speedstar Pro VLB and P133 - Reactor, so it is
the montior itself thats causing the problem.  Perhaps you just didn't
run into it with your old setup?
