Hi all,

After I put a Geforce 4 MX440 in my PC and installed DirectX 9.1 my GPL
hangs on the first screen.
I can see GPL see's my GF4 but it lockes my system at that screen.

Any ideas ??

I know this might be a silly question, but you haven't got indexing on or
something like that? Which OS are you running?

If you're using NT/win2k/XP and have NTFS drives, yes you need to allow
indexing, but the usual symptom of this is an immediate CTD, rather than
just***.

I would start by re-installing your graphics drivers. If you didn't
completely remove your old graphics card drivers, this may well be the
cause. Remove all your graphics drivers completely (by hand if you have to)
and re-install the nVidia drivers. Hopefully it should work then.

I'd be surprised if Dx9 caused the problem.

   What video card were you using before?  Did you have direct3d chosen for
your graphics BEFORE you swapped cards?  If, you were still*** onto a
3dfx, then you have to manually change the graphics raster in the
config.ini from 3dfx for direct3d.

I'm using W98se.
and my old card is a TNT2 ( also nvidea ).

I hope we can sort this out because I'm still a GPL junky
And have been since GPL came out

you broke a cardinal rule of upgrades, "thou shalt not do two upgrades at
once."  Now you have two things to troubleshoot.  I suppose I'd start with
the card.  Change your driver to Std VGA, reboot, don't do anything.  Then
uninstall your drivers, run Detonator Destroyer, reboot, and install your new
drivers.  If that doesn't work, then use DxBuster, uninstall Dx9, and go back
to Dx 8.1 (or whatever you were running before).
