I'm not a programmer, but it seems to me that the new N2 save game feature
could be used to create a "workaround" for 2 line restarts.
The save-game seems to save all relevant racing data - including track
position of cars when the game was saved. So, if I saved the game during a
yellow, just before a green flag, I could leave N2, run the "workaround
patch," and then re-enter my race. The patch interpreted the data in the
save game file, and REPOSITIONED the cars in a 2 lane configuration -
lapped cars in order on the inside and lead lappers on the outside. The
green flag would have to fall immediately when you returned to the game, or
the current "yellow flag positioning rules" would kick in, and you'd have
"cars everywhere on the front stretch."
This definitely sounds possible, once someone can crack/interpret the
save-game files. I hate having to fight a long-way on a restart if I'm a
lap down, while the real-guys on Sunday get better positioning. Depending
on the situation, the absence of 2-line restarts can significantly change a
race outcome.
