GP3 and LWFF

If any of you are satisfied with the FF setup for a LWFF
on GP3 could you tell me if you changed the LWFF
settings themselves (e.g. switched off the centreing
spring?) to achieve this.

I have a patched version of GP3, and I do get FF
through the wheel - but it simply doesn't seem right.
The wheel only appears to react when I'm in a run
off area - on the sand.
There is very little feeling of grip, rumble strips or
anything much as you speed around on the track.
Comparing it with the effects in GPL shows
clearly whats missing from my GP3 driving,.

Is that how its supposed to be? At the very least,
Id expect to be able to feel the cars slide as
well as see and hear it.

I started GP3 (by accident) with the Wingman FF
Joystick enabled rather than the wheel. Whilst I
was shuitting GP3 down to remedy this -
the joystick was reacting wildly - which makes
me wonder if my problem is my wheel settings
rather than GP3.

Also, is there any way to use the Wingman Profiler
to set up the controllers centring spring, spilt axis
etc, for each game. At present, it will only remember
button assignments.
Any help appreciated.

Centering spring needs to be off, IMO.

I use the same settings for all driving games (except F12000, where I use a
touch of centering spring... about 25%). Overall 80%, Spring 80% and damping
30%. Centering spring disabled. In GP3 I think I've got the effects strenght
at 60%. <checks> Yup, 60%.

Your LWFF must be on ID1 (advanced properties) to have FF effects.

Jan, try setting centering spring to 100% in F1CS2000, on my lwff this
makes a huge (positive) difference.

I will Andre... once I get my copy. Still on F1 2k here.

Pretty sure that Centering Spring should be on for GP3, as well.

GPL seems to be the only sim that adds forces to a base of nothing -
everybody else seems to work the opposite direction.

I believe the same goes for F12K.. give it a try.

Yep, this is what I experience also.

I grinned heavily when the FF patch for GPL was released, when I
turned the wheel at standstill and there was no force pullig it
back. Then I let go the wheel and started moving, and the wheel
returned to center by itself. Modelling gyro effects is the only
sensible solution to get the correct FF.

Definitely not true. I run GP3 with 0 centering spring, however, one
really needs to set the steering speed sensitivity to 0 (which is the
most realistic setting).

GP3 seems to transmit the force on the front wheels to the FF setup,
which is the what the feedback would be if the caster angle is very high
and the aligning torque can be neglected. It really helps a lot when
opposite locking, which I find practically impossible without FF
effects.
