gp3--can't get my lwff to feel right??

by themightyp.. » Sat, 05 Aug 2000 04:00:00

I installed gp3 and i think it looks ok to me (graphics etc) but my
wheel feels so wrong. I dld a couple sets from bhm (which got my wheel
working yippee) but now the ff effects seem to throw me off. I don't
know if it is just the cars (don't know what an f1 is supposed to feel
like)or my setup. At speed if i move the wheel just a bit off line the
wheel starts to shake back and forth. likewise into corners it seems to
yank too hard (with respect to what i am seeing visually). I don't know
jack about f1 and I'm used to playing gpl so i don't know if i need to
fix my controller setup/get rid of ff/or just deal with the fact that
this is what it is supposed to feel like. Any help appreciated.

Wow, mine doesn't act like that at all, in fact I would say that my LWFF
feels smoother and more precise in GP3 than in any other sim I own. I could
email my .con file to you if you'd like to try it. It's really just a .con
file from bhmotorsports with a few slight changes. Have you played with the
sensitivity adjustments in the controllers/advanced menu in the sim? I
normally don't use the centering spring in my profiles but with GP3 I've
found it to help, you might try that.

Good luck,

what I did to fix it - I suspect Don Hodgdon may be right with his
suggestion of a little self-centring. I haven't any complaints about the
feel in the corners.

You could also try increasing the "reduce sensitivity with speed"
adjustment to get rid of the *** side to side oscillation.

[OT:lucky bastard :-)you pick up a game and have it kicking ***a day
later--i will get there eventually, from what i've seen so far def.
worth the trouble] What are your lwff setting Don? I mean the things
that are not gamerelated but global, like overall effects strenght,
damping etc. etc. i'm going to play with those for a while. Also do you
use any percentage of steering assist?

TIA Chris
