Chris Squire has completed something that's been asked about since NASCAR Racing 1...if sim racers would ever get a version of
Watkins Glen with the boot.

Well, now you can...go to our Sim Downloads > NASCAR Racing > Tracks section!
And if you'd like to thank Chris or tell us of any problems with the track, please send him some feedback from our feedback
page! (especially since our forums still seem to be hosed up).

Cheers!

What a great track and so-o-o-o much more drivable than the modern version.
Why was the circuit shortened from this arrangement; it's a far better
driver's track?

Bruce.

I think you answered your own question.  The drivers as a group
dislike road courses, adding more turns just makes it worse.
(But I LOVE it!!)

Me, I dislike 1 1/2 mile generic ovals most.

Cliff,

I was at The Glen this weekend for the Grand Prix Festival and yes, they
still use this section for all races, except during Nascar weekend.

I do not understand this..

The Glen was not butchered.. the whole track is there.  NASCAR only uses
part of it, how is that butchering the track??

You guys are acting like they threw part of the track away, its still there
for use for any series that wants to use it

Several of the Sportscar series including, interestingly enough, the
Nascar-partnered Grand American Sportcar (rolex24hr) series.

Now if somebody will do a No (Inner) Loop for the new Boot (Long) Glen, I'll
be wreathed in smiles....

I have watched quite a few different series run the Glen and Sears Point on
Speed and NASCAR is the only one that I have seen that runs short versions
of those two tracks.  Grand-Am, Trans-Am, ALMS, SCCA Touring, etc. all run
the longer versions.
