I hate GPL (not)

I used to play GP2 all the time.  I got GPL in December and didn't play
GP2 for months.  I tried it again the other day, and find that I am
faster than I was before, and it is still quite enjoyable, but obviously
nowhere compared with GPL.  I follow Formula One closely so its good fun
to drive round that tracks that I watch on TV at the weekend.  That's
the thing I miss with GPL, being able to relate to the tracks as I don't
see them on TV!  Although having said that I've been to the Nurburgring,
definitely that most daunting track in GPL!

Have fun,

Neil

Well, I know what you mean about the spoiling other sims aspect of GPL. I bought GPL and MGPRS2 at about the same time here in England and RS2 just never got a look in until the last week or so. But now having had a little time with RS2 I am really starting to enjoy it. The fact that it is easy to relate to the current tracks being used probably makes it a little easier to get into whereas with GPL I can only see the real tracks when they are sometimes shown on  "The Golden Age of Motor Racing" programmes on satellite tv.

GPL is far and away the best out there but I can still get plenty of enjoyment out of most of the others also.

Just wanted to let you all know I finally have bought this sim and now understand what you're all talking about!
Before this I was an MGPRS2 *** (the idea of racing in the 60's didn't appeal that much to me) but after having struggled with GPL for several hours (damn'it it's difficult) thats history. Has anybody out here ever switched back from GPL to another "racing sim" (and I do think MGP is the best of the rest)? What's your experience. It was a total shock to me: The other one is total arcadish compared to Papyrus's product.

Thank you for trashing my other software Papy!
Just wonderin' what would be the result if they decided to create a "modern" F1 sim with the same modelling accuracy as implemented in GPL. Would be a tough competitor for Geoff's GP3 (if it ever sees the light of day).

I have the same feelings to GPL, but to me MGPRS2 is not the source of
enjoyment, quite the contrary; I am so unhappy with it every time I
have watched the real F1 of our times. To me the real competitor of
GPL (measured in playing time) is SCRS. I only hope they could make
a modern F1 sim based on that program... The way wouldn't be too long...

Do you mean SCGT??
I also recently got this and have to agree that it is great fun to drive.
Sorry to hear that you don't like MGPRS2, admittedly it does have it's
faults but I still enjoy it. With a few of the addons, patches (especially
sound ones) out there it definately improves on the out of box version.
