NASCAR pitstop question

Maybe it's hiding in the manual, but what's the trick to getting out of the
pits after a stop in NASCAR? They drop you off the jacks, but the clock
continues to run and accelerating doesn't work. (Should mention that I'm in
automatic shifting mode).

Sorry to be stupid.

The clock stops and the numbers turn green when all pit activities are
complete. If it's still running after the jacks drop, you probably have
some damage somewhere on the car. You can prevent the crew from repairing
the damage by selecting F9 (Pit Stop) and hitting Enter.
