F1GP pitstop question

by Robin Chu » Sat, 11 Nov 1995 04:00:00

Quick question...

How do I force a pitstop?  I find in a full race, my tyres go away, but
I'm not able to force a pitstop.  What is the key to call into the pits?
short of intentionally causing damage?

Thanks.

still waiting for f1gp2...

The Enter key should do the trick. Press it, and the yellow pit light
illuminates on the dash (as long as the red "pit closed" cross is off).
Enter (hey, a mnemonic) the pits on your NEXT approach, or you will crash.
If you change your mind about pitting, you must press Enter again, and the
pit light will extinguish.

Just press RETURN and a yellow light appears on the right of the dashboard,
then your car will be 'sucked' into the pits next time round.

Robin...

Not to be funny or anything, but I would suggest simply driving into the
pits.  I isn't any more simple than that.  Once on teh pit lane, drive
full throttle at your front jack man, this guy studied under Superman,
because he can stop you on a dime.  Six seconds later you should be
rocketing on your way ready to join the fight. (The word fight has been
brought to you by Mr. Paul Page).  There is also a TSR available to
alter the pitting practices of the AI cars.  (CCPIT).  Check out David
Gymers home page for a ton the F1GP add ons.

Later...

You just drive into the pits. Doesn't it work?
If you are driving with the steering help your car will turn automatically to
stop in your pit. However with steering help some pit could be difficult to
enter (Silverstone, for example). In this case you have to slow down a lot
(perhaps 50Km/h or less) before you turn. Hitting the ENTER key to
program a pit stop will help, because with stering help your car
will steer towards the pit entrance (but at Silverstone this isn't
enough). I hope they fix it in F1GP2.

: Thanks.

Cheers.

I think a few drivers could have used "steering help" in this weekend's
Australian GP  :)

I must correct you on this one. You can't drive into the pits without your pit
light on.  to switch your pit light on press the enter key.
