GPL Spyboy help

OK, owned GPL since it came out but tried my first online race yesterday.  I
was thrilled not to come last and I want some more.

I connected through the VROC website race rooms as I get nothing but a blank
screen using Spyboy.  I'm assuming that joining races through Spyboy
improves performance as there's not so much going on in the background.
Running 1.1 of GPL, btw.

I'm using Version 1.1.0.13 - 4-27-99 of GSB and the chat area works ok.  As
far as winsock versions go I'm running Win98 so that shouldn't be an issue
(according to the VROC site), but just in case it is:
-------
Windows Sockets Version 1.1 Highest 2.2
Maximum Number of Sockets: 32767
Maximum UDP datagram size: 65467

General Information:
Microsoft wsock32.dll, ver2.2, 32bit of Apr 28 1998, at 19:33:24.
On Win95.

Raw sockets with IPPROTO_ICMP protocol are supported, setsockopt()
(level=IPPROTO_IP,optname=IP_TTL) is supported.
-------

Any idea what gives?

Also pointers as to how the hell I tune my DUN (?), modem and core.ini
settings would be appreciated - it's a Diamond SupraExpress 56K internal.

Rest of system:
PIII450
128Mb
V3 3000
SB Live Value

TIA

Cheers

Uninstall your current version of GSB

then download
  http://GPLSpyBoy.cjb.net/GSB2BetaSetup.exe
and
  http://GPLSpyBoy.cjb.net/GSB2BetaPatch.zip

Install the above in order and you should be ready to go
