After over 3 years of playing GPL I still look for a
simple tool: is there a tool that provides a clock and
shows me the actual laptime, maybe also intemediate
times also? Such a tool would be appreciated!

AFAIK, no such tool is available.

You'll have to persuade someone to act as "pit crew" and sit alongside
you with a stopwatch :-)

Actually, I once did such a thing at the Nurburgring; present a BIG
clock on the 20" screen beside the PC screen. With a simple space
press I could reset it.

But ofcourse, it sucks a bit. ;-)

I could expand it ofcourse to speak the time every minute or so, but
that might be a bit over the top.

No but there's a thing called GPL flagman which moves the pitboard up
the road a bit so you see the time for the lap you just completed
instead of the the lap before.

Buy a cheap digital watch with a stop watch function, Velcro it to your
wheel
