How good AI cars in Ubi F1RS?

by Yoshihiko Minam » Sun, 21 Dec 1997 04:00:00

Greeting racers.

I'm thinking about to buy or not to buy Ubi F1RS.  I have read it's physics
is great.  but, I more love to race with AI cars than to run hot raps alone.
Though, I'd like to know about F1RS's AI car.

Are F1RS's AI cars better or lesser than NASCAR2 or GP2? I don't want
running obstacles like MS CART PR.

Thank you for reply.

The AI is good, IMO. At different circuits and with different drivers, they
react differently. I've been overtakne by Irvine quite agressively, but he's
also run me off the track when I tried to overtake him.

Also, they don't keep ramming their nose into your car once you've spun and
came to a halt on the circuit.

They're certainly no obstacle. Alesi is a good rain-driver, as on Monza he
had pole yesterday and tore away from the start to victory while it was
raining cats.

after being hit by at least fif*** rounds of 75mm APC from a distance of
approximately 700 yards. All of these shells had ricochetted, with the
exception of a six***th round which finally put the Mark V Panther out of
action." Sgt. Thomas P. Welborn, Germany's Panther tank, the quest for

Hey Yoshi, whassup? The AI in F1RS is good - just as good as the drivers
in GPII if I remember correctly. It's been a while since I've played
GPII. The AI is better than the drivers in N2 when you're driving
non-ovals. If there is an AI patch for N2 on the twisty courses like
Sears Point, then could someone please point me towards it? (pardon the
pun.) There are several bugs in the game and I've not installed the
latest patch - 1.05 - but if you liked GPII, then you'll probably like
F1RS. If you have a voodoo card, then you'll really like it! ;-) I don't
know how good the D3D version is. I shall install the new patch and see
what's different. Anyway, it's a good game and the AI is good.

Thank you for your detailed reply.

I decidet to buy this product. Ubi F1RS will satisfy my expectation.

That is sounds quite interesting.  I know Formula-1 drivers racing
characters by TV or magazine. though, I will be able to enjoy racing with
them!

Thank you.

Thanks for the link to Sim Speed, Yoshi. ;-) I've downloaded the AI
patches for Watkins Glen, Sears Point and Bull Run and will test them
later today. I installed the F1RS 1.05 patch and it didn't kill all the
bugs.:-( The menu system still doesn't "remember" some settings and the
replays still have no sound. On another subject, I finally bought a used
copy of CPR. I like the graphics, the sound is good and the menus are
much better than F1RS. However, the most important aspect of a driving
game is the ability to control the cars and the control in CPR is very
bad compared to F1RS. The second most important aspect of a driving game
is the AI and this is very, very bad in F1RS. How can a driving game
miss the two most important aspects of racing? Oh well, it's all been
said before so I'll just wait for the CPR patch like everyone else.
Have fun with F1RS, you won't regret it!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you meant to say the AI is very bad in CPR,
not in F1RS!?

I guess, you mean the AI in CART, because the AI in F1RS is one of the
best
and challenging up to now.

Oops, my bad.;-) Yes, I did mean to say the AI was bad in CPR, not in
F1RS.
