Hi all :)

I have had GP2 for about 3 day's and am now confident enough to start
racing other people....but GP2 doesn't want to let me !!

I have set all the relevant options in the 'Link Up' menu, but the prog
just will not recognise my modem.

It goes through the initialisation procedure and sends the string to the
modem. I then get a message saying connection faile due to no response
from modem !!

I have tried selecting each of the various modem types and have used a
combination of initialisation strings including a simple 'ATZ'

Any help would be greatly appreciated ....even more so if sent by email.

You could have mentioned what modem you have, but anyway, if it's a
Rockwell-based Hayes-compatible one then one of the following init-
strings might work :
9600 : ATS37=3D9N0S46=3D0&Q0&K0%C0 (Zoom 14k4 fax/modem)
14k4 : AT%C0\N0B8 (markless 28k8 fax/modem)
28k8 : AT%C0\N0B15 (markless 28k8 fax/modem)
28k8 : AT%C0\N0&K0 (Dynalink 1428VQH 28k8 fax/modem)

(In all strings the 0's are zero's, not capital o's)
