I am glad I was not following you in Stavelot ;> I start to turn-in
still going full throttle just before the darker groove begins,
few moments later I start slowly release throttle trying to do it
very gradually so I'll reach about 30% throttle just before brick
walls start. I shift down twice when the revs are right (to 4th
soon after the hay, to 3rd almost at the wall). The I stabilize the
car and slowly start to accelerate.

I have just checked few of my replays in Eagle, usually 200 mph
exactly, 201 mph on one lap.

Guess I better check a few of mine? Maybe I'm hitting 200mph right
before the "kink" but never knew it?....lol

If you don't want to follow *Simon* through there, you REALLY won't want to
follow me...  I *brake* at the last marker before the turn.  So, not only am I
slowing more drastically than you guys, I even do it *earlier*...<g>
But, if I wait *any* later to slow down, or slow down less, I'm t***
hedges... :-)

That's got to be target fixation Eldred. There is absolutely no need to
brake for Stavelot. It's just a matter of turning in early and low into the
turn, scrubbing speed all the way as you drift back up the track and go down
two gears (perhaps a quick dab with the left foot here to make sure one
misses the hedges). Then cutting back down for the apex and booting it back
up the hill

Perhaps you'd be better off just coasting it in (foot completely off
accellerator), banging it down two gears at the apex and accellerating back
out.

"Absolutely no need to brake"?  Something tells me I'm going to tear up a lot
of cars this weekend...<g>

Stavelot. Brake. Definitely not. Never have.

I use the same method as Alexti. Everyone else still leaves me behind coming
away from the corner.

Should I have said "unless you're following Eldred..."? <vbg>

Seriously, after looking through my replay archive and finding no lap I was
happy with, I decided I'd do a couple of laps to get a good example of
Stavelot. Broke the 2nd repair I made to my downshift paddle on my first
attempt, fixed that (even more solid fix now) and went back. Did a pretty
decent lap, a new PB in fact. Ok, I've done better at Haute de la Cote,
entry to Cottages and Blanchimont on other laps, but at 3m21.24s I'll take
it.

Anyway, here' how I drive Stavelot most of the time...

Hope it helps,

Jan.

PS.: and yup, I hit the double ton before Masta. Never noticed that before.

I get caught going IN to the corner, and get left coming OUT of the
corner...<g>
Funny thing is, when I started playing GPL, I don't think I was braking either.
But my problems now could be from me getting through Masta about 20mph faster
now...

Ok, thanks - I'll check it out.  Although something seems to be wrong with my
wheel.  I can't control the car anymore - it screwed me up in league races last
night and this morning... :(

Eldred,

Your steering pot may need replacing. I replaced the pot on my TSW a
couple weeks ago and all is good. It was to the point where I couldn't
drive the car in a straight line, no matter how many times I calibrated
the wheel. (You're still using a TSW, right? Or did you give in to the
dark side and get something with FF?)
