I have to say that the best car simulator ever is Sports Car GT. And there
is probably nothing that anyone can say against the driving model of this
game I have to say, is perfect.

GPL = Grand Prix Legends, a racing simulation of 1967 F1 cars

Grand Prix Legends by Papyrus.  If you played it, you would certainly know
about it :-D

Check out http://www.papy.com/gpl/gpl.html for a demo (that P3/600 will come
in handy).
and for a few racing summaries and screen shots try (choose the Race Summary
links) http://members.home.net/extra.mondsj/gpl/PRCspec2.html

Matt,

You have to remember that GPL and SCGT are two totally different racing
games.  To even compare the two really is not valid.  If someone doesn't
care to race the older GP cars, then they might want to go to the newer
Grand Prix games like MGPRS2, or, if they enjoy racing something other than
F1 cars, then Viper or SCGT might be the way to go.

It depends on whether you want to simulate the "feel" of driving or the
details of a certain type of racing series.

I think a lot of people here are mainly looking for a sim that feels
right, and since GPL is far and away the most detailed in that respect
they've gravitated towards it even though it probably isn't the genre
they're most interested in.

Certainly that's my interest - I just wanted to experience what it's
like to be "on the edge" in a racing car without actually risking life
and limb in the process!

GPL certainly seems to give the best impression of raw speed - you can
just feel the car convulse when you put your foot down!

The subject says Best Car simulator ever, that is with out a doubt GPL. Sure
MGPRS2 and SCGT are good, but they aren't even close to GPL.

Actually, its not.  Try Grand Prix Legends from Papyrus and published by
Sierra Sports.

Hehehe apart from the fact you can't even get the Porsches to exhibit
oversteer, which is kinda weird for a car that has 68% of it's weight in the
rear, no??

Jan./Official SCGT knocker.

Which, IMO is really scary. Maybe the bar was put too high?

Maybe your not driving fast enough?  Try SCGT with Pure Sim mode it does the
trick for me.

mode in the rain, now that's fun!)

It may not be perfect, but you can and do get oversteer.  It feels adequate to
me.

Ok, well you have way more experience in driving the real thing than me.  I
agree with the "not enough" comment, but you said "you can't even get the
Porsches to exhibit oversteer".  I was just showing you my oversteering Porche
:-D

I think it does a good job overall.  The garage is kinda weak in that the
adjustments are simplified in terms of understeer/oversteer and there are no
tire temps.  Umm,  have you tried making the front suspension soft and the rear
hard.  Put the front wing full and remove all rear wing.  This should produce
the most oversteering car.

While SCGT is a great game, it's driving model doesn't compare to Viper
Racing.

try GPL; it's the BEST car simulator there is; Driving makes me feel like
i'm in a car better than any other, including Sports Car GT. That's an
excellent simulator, though, no doubt.
