Was wondering if after updating to a better video card, would that be lost
if it had TV out and was running a TV as a monitor. Interested in opinions
on anyone who is using or has tried it, just cannot lay out the bucks for
that big a monitor. TIA. Douglas

It would be fine for ***, but for anything in 2D and text it would be
slightly blurred and would be *** the eyes due to the low 50hz refresh
rate of TV's. Now if you forked out for an HDTV it would be another matter.

What about one of those Plasma screens.. I see they do SVGA and can handle
s-video ... 42 inches as well , only 85 mm deep... just under 3 grand
.............. wouldn't that be a screen to aspire to own?

Although I don't have NASCAR 2002, the only problem I see is you would be
limited to 800x600 with a regular TV.

I tried this and decided it wasn't worth it.  It looks like ***
unless you move to typical TV viewing distance, and then, it really
appears no larger than a regular monitor, if not smaller...  If you're
wanting to play from your sofa, maybe it would be worth it, otherwise,
I'd move on.  And like someone else said, text is basically illegible.

One thing I tried that did make a noticeable improvement was to use an
anti-glare/privacy fresnel lens on your monitor.  This is basically a
magnifying glass for your monitor.  I was able to borrow one (sadly
only for a few days) and thought it was very nice, but not enough to
justify the money to buy one for myself.  These don't come cheap,
typically over $150, but maybe you can "borrow" one from somewhere.  I
suspect you might also be able to buy just a lens and build the
enclosure yourself for less money.  Somebody suggested using the lens
from an old overhead projector, I dont know if one of these would be
suitable or not.

Good luck,
Gerald
