GP2 - Kudos & Problems

by Dan Blak » Tue, 17 Jun 1997 04:00:00

Greetings all,

I am having a problem in GP2 in that the QuickRace settings other than
track location have no effect.  If I set my driver and team to be Mika
Hakinnen/McLaren starting 10th at France, I get Michael Schumacher
starting 25th at France.  I am using the save game state button without
success.  Only had the game 2 weeks now, so am behind the curve <g> as
far as patches, if available.  Also need help setting up CH VP and Pro
Pedals with GP2; do not mind having VP as the two buttons simulate
shifting levers in real F1 car.

I've been a Papyrus fan for some time, but am totally blown away by the
sounds, graphics, and playability of GP2.  It was great to practice and
race at Montreal the week preceding the Canadian GP, too bad the real
race was somewhat disappointing.  The ambient garage sounds do justice
to my Bose surround system (neighbors must think I have a V-12 in the
living room).

Many thanks, and on to Magny-Cours...

Hey Dan,

Welcome to the GP2 fan club!  I am still not sure why there are so many
ICR2 and NFS users throwing dirt on GP2.  My opinion of the game is much
the same as yours.

Now to your problem.  Here are some suggestions...
First check your "drive options" section.  Make sure you have set it for
only one car in use.  Next make sure in "choosing your driver" that only
Haakinen is marked (you can tell by the red indicator in the left column
next to the teams).

Keep it between the curbs...
Scott   :-)

Hmmm. not come across that one before?

Everything else is working ok I assume?

I would reinstall the game just to be on the safe side. Also, if you do
not have any utilities/patches/updates for gp2 yet, go and get yourself
the following from the web......

1) nocdrom.zip  so you do not have to have the cd loaded to play.

2) p97cs22.zip  to update the cars, driver & team names, etc to the 1997
season.

3) gp2jam.zip  to convert gp2 graphic files (jams) to bmps and vice versa.

4) gp2ed.zip  to edit various parts of the gp2 program.

5) gp2cv.zip  to check out any new graphics in 3D.

6) keyboard.zip  for the best keyboard set-ups (obviously only for those
using the keyboard?)

There are various versions of each program available, try and get the
newest version of each one, there are also loads of other
programs/patches/utilities/editors available out there? But if you have
these few mentioned above, you will have the main ones?
