cars in need for speed 3.
I have the camera set to inside of car, but can not see the steering wheel
or the dashboard, only the road outside.
Hope someone can help.

Normally, you will not a an option to pick 3dfx D3D mode, you have to do this :
1) Go to your NFS3 folder
2) Open the 3dsetup folder
3) find a file call 3dsetup.dat ? or 3ddata.dat ? Can't remember sorry.
4) open that file with a notepad.
5) You should see a line like this :
3dfx-D3D = 0
Just change the o to 1, so change it to
3dfx-D3D = 1
6) Run the NFS3 3Dsetup, and pick Voodoo2 D3D
7) Run NFS3
The intro movie will get screwed up, but the game runs
fine, make sure you have "in-car" view in one of your
camera view, then start race with the dash-board view :)
It runs as fast as the glide version, but lacks some nice
fogging effect and some other minor graphical glitches...
Hope it helps

Which graficcard do you have ?? If it's a Voodoo-based card - you need

I bought a Monster-2 card with 12MB, and I now have the full dashboard
view.
My original Monster-1 card was a _lot_ more stable under Windows 98,
however.

Or a Pure 3-D Voodoo 1 card which comes with 4 meg of texture memory. :-)

I wish I had my VooDoo-1 back. Too many troubles with the V2, and NFS3
was certainly not worth spending the money for a new card.

***VITAL INFORMATION***
It has come to our attention that a virus called Win32/CIH has been
released into the public domain from a number of sources. This virus
attaches itself to any executable program (*.exe) in either Windows 95
or Windows 98. You may have this virus on your system, without any
knowledge of it. This virus is extremely deadly to your machine and
should not be ignored.
Our latest software checks for virus infection before running. Should
you encounter any 'blue-screen' crash, involving either a 'Fatal
Exception' or 'VXD error', your system may be infected with the CIH
virus.
We recommend that you test and disinfect all of your floppy disks and
check your hard disks and CD's to ensure that they are all clear from
this virus. If you find a CD with the virus we recommend that you do not
use it again, as a CD cannot be disinfected.
Virus Killers are available from a number of sources that will remove
the CIH virus from your system. The following web-sites contain either
free, or time-limited evaluation versions of virus killers that will
clean your system:
Mcafee Viruscan (Viruscan)
http://www.mcafee.com
Proland Software (CleanCIH)
http://pspl.com
Download.com (Contains several virus killers)
http://www.download.com
Once you have cleaned your system, please re-install your Electronic
Arts game, and try to launch it in the normal manner. Should you
continue to have a problem with your software, please contact your local
Electronic Arts Customer Services Department.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS VIRUS HAS NOT INFECTED ANY ELECTRONIC ARTS CD -
YOUR EA CD IS NOT THE SOURCE OF THE VIRUS.
