Need For Speed 2 - need info

I tried this yesterday, and I think the game absolutely sucks.  I honestly
can't find one significant aspect of the game that is better (or even as
good) as the original.  I hate the new cars, the physics and AI are
terrible...I hit a Mack truck head on at about 80 mph, sending the truck
backwards flipping around and around down the road, at which point it then
righted it self and continued driving normally down the road.  I later rear
ended a Volvo at about 150 and my car went flying but the Volvo didn't
budge.  The scenery felt very bitmappy/Road Rash-ish.  At least NFS 1 made
me feel like I was on a road with real scenery around, even if I couldn't
drive on it.  Now it feels like I'm playing road rash with the actual car
not moving and the road and scenery coming to me.  The tracks all feel like
Lost Vegas to me...totally unrealistic and totally boring.  I loved NFS...I
bought it 4 times (3DO, PSX, PC, NFSSE/PC), but this is total trash...I
wouldn't install it if it were given to me.  The cars themselves don't look
anywhere near as realistic to me as the originals either.

NFSII is not the same game as NFS or NFS SE. All the tracks resemble the
Lost Vegas track and look like a japanese cartoon. The handling and
driving physics are similar to NFS although they can be altered
slightly. I didn't like the game at first and stopped playing it. I
played it again this week using the cheats that give access to all the
cars in the game --including the school bus, Miata, BMW, Mercedes and
more-- a bonus track and a faster engine. The game still looks like a
cartoon but is an interesting diversion nontheless. If you play this
game without any preconceived notions of what NFSII "should" look like,
then you would probably have fun. If you have a T2, then it's fun. If
you have a 3D video card, then you'll be disappointed because it doesn't
support 3D cards. To answer your question, the physics are not
realistic. If you want realism, then stick to GPII. I've not played N2
and only tried a demo of ICR2 so I can't comment on those titles.
