N3 and voodoo2

N3 and voodoo2

I just got the Voodoo2 1000 card for my Cyrix 300 mhz system. I get a
framerate in the game of (usually) around 8-11 with everything on. I turned
almost everything off (cept skids, smoke, that type of stuff) and didn;t
notice any major diff in frame rate (maybe about 13 but that's it) is there
something else I am not doing. I have it set to use the glide setting for
graphics. I turned down cars drawn, reduce skid buffer, all that, game seems
fairly smooth so it doesn't seem to be an issue. Even when the frame rate
dropped to like 2 it was still smooth. Do I even need to worry about it if
the game is flowing smooth? Just wondering, thanks

Right. So I am wondering why the subject says "N3 & Voodoo2",
like there are issues with N3 and Voodoo2.

What a dork. haha.

Do you mean the framerate counter says you have 2 frames per second, but that
the game still runs smooth? That's what I understand when I read (the end of)
your message. In that case I see no problem. Not with your hardware anyway.
Maybe the Cyrix and the framerate counter don't work well together, but why
worry if gameplay is smooth? Have fun! And don't let people like Geg Cisko
bother you... There's only one dork in this newsgroup and that's.... yes, you
guessed it!

Or, if you're tight on budget and don't want to get a new motherboard
for that Celeron chip, get an AMD K6-2, provided that your current
motherboard supports it.

I wholeheartedly agree.  I just built a cheap K6-2 350 system for my dad with
128mb RAM, with a Voodoo 3 2000 video card, and N3 runs like a charm with
29-30fps no matter what the traffic is like.  I did notice during one horrific
accident that the frame rate dropped to 27fps, but that's the lowest it's ever
been.

I just put a Voodoo2 in my AMD-6 system and it runs excellently on N3.

And speaking of accidents, do the computer cars ever actually have
accidents? Or do the only accidents occur when I whack someone? The only
thing I see the computer cars do is randomly spin going in and out of
corners, occasionally catching someone else in the process. In fact, in most
races I've done in N3 so far, the spinning car doesn't even tag anyone else
and the race goes completely without yellows. Does anything unusual ever
happen?

Sounds a lot like an accident to me, but what do I know...

Other than the occasional cattle *** or alien ***, there's not
much unusual going on in N3 that I can see.

I started a Lowe's race and on the 3rd lap, Bill Elliot got loose and whacked the wall,
catching 3 others too.
On the 78th lap, massive (8 cars) pileup on front straight before turn 1.( I cut someone
off coming out of the pits and he checked up I guess).

Alright, wise guy. Maybe I should clarify myself: do the idiotic computer cars
ever cause accidents besides those they cause when the code decides to randomly
spin a car? In other words, and I'll keep this simple, do the cars ever, for
example, bang into each other on a long straightway, like in REAL LIFE, causing
an accident. If not, that's pretty pathetic that the only thing they could
program was a random spin every few laps, MAYBE catching another car, but
usually not.

Hey!  Sounds just like N2. ;-)
