OT: CART Miracle

I am amazed by how many teams have stepped up to join CART this year.
After loosing several top teams and many drivers at the end of 2002, I
thought it would be very hard for CART to get more than a dozen cars ready
for the first race.
Now that Emmo has announced a team, they are currently at 19 cars.
I also have to say that the Walker Racing Team has the best looking
paintjobs.  I haven't seen such flair since Valvoline quit sponsoring Robby
Gordon(hey, also for Walker Racing)  Walker's #15 Darring Manning RAC car
is very good.
Now all we have to do is see if all the teams can survive the season.
Since they won't have to worry about doubling the budgets to race at Indy,
they probably will be better off financially than in year's past.  The real
test, moneywise, will be when they ship the cars off to Europe.  Any team
with shaky finances will probably not make the trip.
  Now's the time Papyrus...hehehe

The bigger issue will be how long CART's money is going to last paying some
of those teams to race and co-promoting races.  I hope it works, but I'm
concerned.

What difference does that make?  Are you meaning travel expenses?  I
thought the promoter was responsible for bringing the equipment over as
part of the sanctioning agreeement.  Beyond that, I'd think the costs to
teams would be maginally more expensive than a North American round.

CART is promoting those Europe events now which means it comes out of their
pocket.

In the context of Dave's point, "same difference."  As I understand it,
there's not an inordinate increase (i.e. freight) in out-of-pocket costs
to the teams for the overseas events.

I would think the costs..even if CART is footing some of the bills would
be increased.  After all there are French judges to pay off.

The individual tracks still take care of the shipping costs.

I do believe it is the promoter, which is the track.
