Win95 (god help us all!) and F1GP!! HELP!!

by John Waters » Mon, 06 Nov 1995 04:00:00

I am dying to play my favorite game since I have installed windows 95.
When I try to play it, I get a (program too big to fit in memory
error) or after screwing around It loads the title screen and all the
animation, and when I hit the space bar to skip the startup, it quits
and I land back in WIN95.  GREAT GODDAM OS!!!

Help please.

Thanks,
Stuck in Neutral!

Right click over F1GP then click properties then go to the program tab
and pick advanced then click the ms-dos mode box, this should help.

I have been running it in my Win95 since the day I loaded it (aug 24).
I have made a short-cut to f1gp.bat on my desktop, then right click on the
shortcut, then click on properties. find the folder that says, "memory" and go
to that. You want to change the conventional memory from "auto" to 600k. That's
all I needed, no re-booting or anything. My dad has had problems with it also,
but his disk is compressed, and he has to reboot. Oh, I also don't have an
autoexec.bat or config.sys file, so I don't have anything loading up into
memory when I boot. If you still have these files, you may have to mess with it
more to get it to work.

>Well If you have tried to give more memory to the program from win95 and that didnt work just start up your computer with your old=

 autoexec.bat+config.sys. That should work.

You don't need MS-DOS mode to run F!GP.

Before you make so drastic change, let me ask you: did you use
MEMMAKER ?  It made a great job in my system, even under Win95.

I dont use F1GP but I'd think it would be as demanding as Nascar Racing
Windows suggested that it be in ms-dos  mode.
