Was it just me, or did anyone else see what track The King Richard Petty
was running on during the grand opening of Daytona USA on ESPN2?

Looked very promising...if ya know what I mean :-)

That was DEFINITELY a Daytona track. The walls read "DAYTONA USA" and the
scenery was remisincent of Daytona. I double-checked this with the VCR.  Maybe
all our Dayotna angst will come to an end this November.

Ed already explained this...

1) yes, it is a daytona track especially made for Daytona USA only
2) No, it won't be in NCR2
3) Sega owns the rights to the name until 97.
4) if it's bootlegged, it won't work with NCR1 or 2.

My own personal feeling...I think the people of Daytona are beginning(or already
have) seen the popularity of NCR1, and will soon see it grow with NCR2 and the new
NRL.  Once the licensing agreement with Sega expires, they will want to be involved
with NCR2 and the NRL.  Unless, this is a big unless...Sega throws a TON of $$$$ at
them to keep it.  We all know Sega has the money to do it too.

reguard to reality...

Even a ton of money might not do it.  The France family runs ISC
(International Speedway Corperation) and runs NASCAR as well.  They aren't
the money grubbing folks some attribute them nor are they fools.  A NRL
without Daytona isn't quite the hit that it could be with Daytona.  Besides,
the only thing stopping them right now is the licensing issue.  Once May
arrives, that won't be an issue.

You never know who in the France family is a NASCAR Racing fan to the point
of making sure Sierra/Papyrus gets it's license.  Little Bill France (Jr.)
might even be a fan of it.  (No, I don't know this for sure, but, I wouldn't
be surprised if he is.)
