SCGT can't find my CD ROM Drive

by BRH » Thu, 27 Jan 2000 04:00:00

I just installed a second hard drive onto my system, which of course
moved my CD-ROM drive designation from D: to E:.  I've been able to
change where most of my desktop shortcuts point to by right clicking on
them and changing the "Start In" setting.  Unfortunately, SCGT's "Start
In" setting points to C:, but it continues to look for the CD in Drive
D.

Is there a way to get SCGT to find the CD ROM drive on E, short of
re-installing the whole thing?  I really don't want to go thru that if I
can help it, since I have the Service Pack 3 installed, and it took me
awhile to get it working properly the first time.

Any help would be appreciated.

First thing I look at after the shortcut, is to see if there's an .ini
or .cfg file in the program's (or Window's) directory.  Look in there.
Otherwise you're probably going to have to reinstall.

Open the registry to the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Image Space Inc\Sports Car GT

Click to open DirAnim and change to new drive letter. Click to open
InstallFromPath and change to new drive letter.

I set my CD-ROMs (and DVDs, ZIP-drives etc) up as X:, Y: or Z: to avoid
problems everytime I add or remove a harddrive, then I always known
which drive it is. Can't imagine getting enough harddisks for them to be
assigned W: and X: for quite some time :-)
