What for?  The amazing thing about GPL is that you can race on tracks
like the original Spa.  Watkins Glen was a very fun track, even in the
short GPL configuration.  (then nascar came along)

At least in my opinion, it would be good to take a spin
on a track you can identify with. I think it would be
good to load up a modern day F1 track and take the
Ferrari out for a spin on it.

Cheers,
Rod.

To each his own. My own feeling is that modern tracks are designed for
driver saftey and spectator convienence.

The OLD tracks were for DRIVERS!  Simmers don't have to worry about saftey
OR spectators. As for a track you can identify with turn enough laps and you
can "identify" with the old tracks much MORE than you can the new ones you
see on TV.

Sims are about the driver experience.

Well, some of the modern tracks would be fun to drive with car having as
little grip as in GPL...the braking for the chicanes in Monza or Hockenheim
should be interesting when you race with AI or on VROC.
On top of this a track like Montreal MUST be very nice...

Modern F1 is not really funny not ONLY because of the tracks, nut also
because f the cars which have so much grip...

Come and watch truck races....

Hmm... at least you would save a lot shifting.. I guess there
wouldn't be much use for 4th or 5th gear on these short
straights between chicanes and turns :(

Maybe we can shift some tracks back in time (taking out all the
chicanes, increase the lenght of the straights, etc..) -
just imagine Sepang without Pangkor Laut and without
Berjaya Tioman (maybe just a wide left hander between KLIA and
Kenyir Lake :)

I don't know... I mean the old Spa is brilliant and takes a lot to master
but loads of flat out public roads isn't racing either, is it?

You mean public roads like Riverside, Kyalami, Zandvoort, The Glen, Suzuka,
Indy, Brands Hatch, Donnington, The Ring, Lime Rock Park, etc.?

Ok, do you mean  that loads of 2nd gear corners and chicanes up the whazoo
IS racing?

I think Kevin's correct.  GPL tracks are for drivers.  Tracks from the
50s, 60s and 70s were about great drivers.  Today these tracks are for
safety and spectators.

Spectators would rather have a chicane so they can see the cars at
60-70MPH instead of flying by at 180MPH
