Is there a performance difference between cars in GP2?  I  currently
drive Jean Alesi's Ferrari.  If i switch to say the Lola or the Williams will
there be a difference in handling/top speed etc.(assuming they are set up the
same) or will each respond differently?

Also, what's the top speed you guys/gals have reached.  I saw 200 mph a few
times in the Ferrari, but never higher.

Vroom!

There is no difference in wich car you drive. There is only a difference
for the computer.

Highest topspeed I reached is 333 km/h (208 Mph)at Hockenheim. Adelaide 329
km/h. (205 Mph) (No performance editors used)

I have gotten to 207 at Hockenheim in the Ferrari and the McLaren.

I have driven the Ferrari of Jean Alesi also but currently i drive the
Forti -Corse and i see that in the corners the Forti is much slower but
lets say at Hockenheim on the straight you can pull out.

The game/sim is based on the 1994 season, and the cars are modelled on
the cars for that season.

So yes, there is a difference in each cars performance, and each drivers
performance.

But bear in mind the fact that the opposition cars standards can be set
via the drive options menu, so how you set this, eg:- 1994, random, all
the same, will affect the game/sim.

Also bear in mind that some of the newer editors/updates, have patches
included in the programs to update the car/driver performance levels. So
if you are using, say, a 1997 update patch/program for GP2, it may also
have a patch included which alters the car and driver standards to also
match 1997.

I have reached approximately 208mph for Monza and for Hockenheim, This
was achieved by altering the cars set-up only, not by using editors or
patches.

However, if you do use some of the editors which are now available, you
can alter the cars power, (bhp), to give it much more acceleration and
power, and therefore increase top speed.
I'm sure others out there have obtained higher speeds?

Craig, have a look at  http://www.powerup.com.au/~philmak/fulthrot.htm  .
It will give you a way of testing to see if you're getting the performance
you should be getting from your GP2 setup.

Hope it helps.

: So yes, there is a difference in each cars performance, and each drivers
: performance.

He is referring to the human driven car.  For that there is no difference
in performance betwen teams.

I regularly see 207mph in a Simtek at Monza and Germany.

Your own car's performance is the same regardless of which team you
actually choose to drive for.  The computer's cars are tuned to each
team individually.  For example, the 1994 Ferrari will be the fastest
car down the straights because the program gives the Ferrari the most
horsepower.

There is always the same power and grip for the player=B4s car. If you
coose a Ferrari (with the strongest engine) or a Footwork with a Hart
V8, your power is the same. Check two cars with the same setup!

Nick, you should let yourself check by your psychiatrist, dude! :-)

_Fact_ is: whatever car you choose, it becomes the "player's car", with fixed
BHP,  and grip settings. There's only a performance difference between them when
they are driven by computer guys.

Correct, there is no difference in the "human" cars performance, that is
governed by the set-up you use.

Hi.

The car you drive -- be Ferrari, Williams or whatever -- will be
always the same for you. The only difference is that when you drive a
car like Williams you're taking it out to be your opponent. And it'll
be one less strong opponent within the race for you. Otherwise, if you
drive a car like Lotus -- wichi is not a computer leading car --
you'll have to race a in more difficult environment because you
haven't taken a strong computer car like Williams.
