I was fortunate enought to get through that by lifting and dropping down
onto the apron. Lifting doesn't really do alot to slow you down but it does
give you better control. I would say that if you hit the brakes and were
anywhere close to the action it would probably be harder to control. As
always, I would suggest driving towards the spinning car, chances are it
won't be there when you get there. If you try to avoid it without contol of
the car you will most likely be involved.

I was completely off the throttle, and trying to avoid everyone.
Didn't work out that way. Terribly sorry.

I'm still spinnin :)

One thing I'd like to mention about the wall glue.  If you get caught up in
it then you need to let your speed bleed a lot before you start crankin the
wheel to the left.  If you dont you WILL take out a big part of the feild.
Case in point :))

How the heck did you even get up into the glu at dega John??

missed - got through a bunch of cars.  Ended up having Mitch

Sweaty hands.  The wheel just slipped out of my hands and i slowed to
try to avoid the wall, but it reached out and snagged me.  When it
let go, I guess I was turning left trying to get off, and I got shot
down to the inside.  I think you were the first car I hit.

I had lifted, braked, and was in control.  I just dodged into the same
direction that Mitch spun...  Like I said, I think we both would have been fine
except for the fact that someone elso PLOWED into us.

I wear stringback gloves to combat that situation. If you get the good stuff
($150 / pair) the more you sweat the better they grip. Looks a bit silly to
someone watching you and does nothing for your keyboarding skills, but it
works a treat.

Jan,
I'm glad you came of the closet. I must admit that I didn't quite pay
$150.00 for my pair, but it wasn't exactly the cheap stuff either. Me an you
got a lot in common heh.  Hey, do you wear a two piece driving suit or just
a one piece? I used to wear the cheap two piece stuff but switched to the
one-piece. It was more comfortable and has a cute little zipper in the
front. With the nomex / kevlar liner, there will be little chance that I
will get burned in our races. Plus, its breathes so well, it keeps the sweat
from accumulating in and around embarrasing areas. Also, what kind of helmet
do you wear? After Dale died, i switched to a full face helment but have
since gone back to the open face. My face shield was fogging up and I
couldnt see the computer screen. I bought those tear-offs for my face
shield, but I couldn't keep my pit crew around long enough to tear one off
when I went in to pit. So far, the open face is the ticket.
Its good that we have so much in common even though we be on either
sides of the pond. Lets keep this to ourselves. "They" would never admit the
stuff that we have.

I was trying to win the race in sixth or seventh place? I did lift, but
thought that wasn't enough and swerved to the left. Unfortunately, we don't
have brake lights and turn signals. I was trying to avoid causing a wreck,
far from trying to be a cowboy and win it on lap 20. Everything would have
been fine, but I did over correct and just caught the front bumper of the
car behind me. Watch the entire replay again from my POV and count how many
times I lifted. You will get tired of counting. I will admit my portion of
fault, but I won't be accused of trying to win the race with 75 laps to go.

I got really lucky on that one. I was right behind John and when you drifted
high, I was mesemerized or something and followed you right to the wall,
just brushing it. That saved me from getting hit when you came back off the
wall.

Either that or run it with moderate damage :)
I asked 3 times if we were running with bump drafting and got no answer, cept for Larry I think.
You have to give so much room (unlike me :) when your on the outside to avoid the inside warps you simply cannot compete on the
outside without bump drafting.
It's boring enough to run restrictor plate tracks without having to protect the inside so much.

btw, anyone else think 2nd gear was a bit much?

People can say whatever that like - but bumpdrafting have no place in
online-racing - it's simple too risky.
Lan racing - maybe. Online racing - no way in hell.... Thats's just like
asking for problems..

Bump drafting is fine as long as both you and the person you're
bumping (or that's bumping you) have an absolutely solid connection.
However, since you never know when the evil Mr. Latency is gonna
reach out and grab someone, bump-drafting online is risky at best.

If you do it, and it wrecks someone out, they have every right to
flame you for doing it. :)

That being said, I wasn't fast enough to catch you in order to bump
you Tim, and my car lost a little more power each lap (I honestly
thought I was gonna lose another motor). Eventually everyone walked
away from after I did the wall-glue boogy.

I have never really seen bump drafting work on-line.  Even if both
people involved have a good connection it seems like the collision
detection allways causes one of the cars to "dip" down into the track
and gives a scraping sound.  Which can slow the cars.  I even had one
case where I was trying to bump draft in a pickup game (the guy kept
screaming for me to do it) and I swear it caused my front tires to
wear out prematurly.  More often than not, bump drafting ends in a
yellow.
