CPR - wheel control problem - anything else to try before returning to store?

The problem:
It is nearly impossible to navigate the STRAIGHTAWAYS in Cart
Precision Racing with my Thrustmaster T2 steering wheel.  I can aim
straight down the track and not move the wheel even slightly and the
car drifts off to one side or the other.   I end up tacking down the
road like a sailboat, often nearly spinning.  Ironically, I have no
problems with the corners.

My system:
Pentium II 350, 64MB SDRAM, ATI Rage Pro, Diamond Monster 3D,
Thrustmaster ACM game card, Thrustmaster T2 wheel

The facts:
-- I can play numerous other games (F1RS, GP2, GPL, Interstate 76)
which work perfectly.
-- I have calibrated the speed of my ACM card for my system
-- I am using Thrustmaster's ProPanel calibration tool
-- I cleaned the T2 pots about 2 weeks ago (see #1 anyway)
-- I have downloaded the CPR 1.0.1 patch from MS
-- I have spent hours and hours trying different combinations of the
control  sliders in the game (including the Null zone slider added by
the patch.)  It ranges from almost bearable to ridiculous.
-- I have tried both the Joystick and Race Car Controller choices

Can you think of ANYTHING else I can try before I give up and take the
game back??

Thank you for even reading this far!!

I guarantee I can get you to track a perfectly smooth, straight line with
some setups and steering settings for your T2. E-mail me and tell me what
setups you'd like.

I had the exact same problem with my DELL Pentium II 300 using the TSW.
After countless hours of experimenting and 3 calls to Microsoft Tech
Support, I
finally returned the game and I was glad to be rid of it.
I did spend over 1\2 hour with one technician at MS and we tried
everything w/o any luck. A supervisor there said that was the way it was
designed.. to simulate real racing conditions....sure it is.
I have 3 other racing sims...all with perfect steering. That will be the
last MS game for me.

P.S. Even talked to Trevor Thomas at TSW...it seems that CART Precision
Racing is not as precise as MS would have us believe.

It must have  been your setups or steering settings or a combination of the
two. I can track as straight and smooth in CPR as any other sim (such as
F1RS). If you still had the game, I could easily send a replay of my car
riding inches from the wall the whole length of the straightaway at tracks
like Miami, Fontana, Michigan, St. Louis, and Rio.
