TPTCC question / also for TSP

by William Dahm » Fri, 24 Apr 1998 04:00:00

Well Im having some slight problems with the TPTCC.  The problem begins
with this: I have all the sim project graphic enhancements on my ICR2
tracks.  For example, instead of Longbch.dat I have Lngbchhq.dat.  TPTCC
does not know to convert these.  So what I have done is this: I convert
the new and old tracks from N2 into ICR2.  Then I edit the TPTCC
schedule to say lngbchhq instead of longbch, then I move all the files
from longbch into lngbchhq, then cut and paste the contents of
longbch.txt into the lngbchhq.txt file, deleting the old .txt info
first.  This gets the track working in N2 and moves the intended
track.txt info over BUT that is all.  If other changes are made to the
AI or the grip levels, ect somewhere else in the TPTCC process (for
example, I know that its possible to change some of this in the .dat
file) I would not get this change with the above system.  So if the
powers that be are willing I would like assurance that the only changes
made from N2 -> TPTCC are in the track.txt file or in some other place
that my system would cover, but not in the track.dat file.  If this is
not the case, then I hope sombody can help me with a way to get all the
TPTCC changes and retain the TSP graphic updates.
Thanks much

Using the track convertor, it shouldn't make any difference what your ICR2
track is labeled.   I haven't used any of the TSP updates, but I have
installed 3d track updates from the Rendition Ready web site and then
converted the tracks to N2.  this worked like a charm,  Remember to install
and patch N2.  then install and patch ICR2.  Then convert the tracks from
ICR2 to N2.  Finally run the TPTCC patch after all your tracks are in order.

TPTCC question / also for TSP

If you're looking to convert the graphics, then you'll be better off
with the Rendition Ready graphics, rather than those from TSP.  The
main reason is that ICR2 allows for some of the images to be in 16-bit
PCX, while N2 doesn't go for this.  The converter is most likely having
a hard time figuring-out what to replace what with, since there's no
N2 equivallent.

You'll find that some of the TSP tracks use all 16-bit MIP's, but there
are still some with the old PCX's.  IMHO, ours are better looking, but
the stuff from the Rendition Ready site a better suited.

Cheers!
