Transparent Dash for F1 2002?

Transparent Dash for F1 2002?

by Larry Lindstro » Sun, 20 Apr 2003 08:32:19

Hi Folks:

When I drive my car I have about 180 degrees
of visibility.

I don't have the equipment to give me that
view, but doubling the amount of screen showing
the track would improve my sense of speed and
general situational awareness.

Is there any mod, for F1 2002 or GTR 2002,
that makes the dash go away while retaining the
in-car perspective and mirrors?  I'm not
satisfied with the bumper cam.

I've heard you rant on this David H.  I've
never driven a real car while looking through
a mailing tube.  Please don't hate me.  : )

                                       Thanks
                                       Larry

Yes, but unfortunately both F1 2002 and GTR 2002 have the eye perspective
point positioned about 2-3 feet further back then what it would be in real
life.  Presumably they've done this so that the mirrors are visible when
using a reasonable field of view setting.  There's no simple solution to the
problem - hence the attempt by some people to come up with multi-monitor
solutions......

Perhaps it's you that's misguided, Dave. ;-)

"Damien Smith"

  MOI?  NAW?
I suspect with a full face helmet and high lateral padding on the seat to
hold the helmet from flopping, that most drivers don't have very much field
of view.

However I do agree there are limitations to simming...it's just that if
we start using transparent textures and editing views, then we are just
another group of flight simmers...(ducks!)
