GPL Drivers arms question.

Is there a way to still veiw the drivers arms on the wheel, but not have him
actually working the shift lever? If you watch the supplied replays, none of
the drivers arms leave the steering wheel, which allows you to better veiw the
gearshift at all times. I just can't find the option. Any help is appreciated.

If you are going to have the arms turned on while driving, why not go
all the way and let those arms work the stick shift as well?  I'd rather
find out the opposite of what you want.. I want the replay to show the
arms doing the shifting!

Afaik that's not possible, the arms not shifting during a replay is a
bug.

Hey, we like seeing the drivers arms working, he does some major
contortions when you're on full opposite lock and you change gear:-)

I would turn off wheel and drivers arms ... I have my own wheel and arms
myself - why should I need another wheel plus arms on the screen? ;-)

I have the arms off when I am driving, but I would like them on during
replay.  Too bad that option doesn't exist.

Its for that asme reason I can't seem to learn to use the gear manulally,
the driver keps blocking the stick so you can't see what gear your in or
anything.

Damn LCD's have spoiled us:-)

Surely you just have to turn them on in the options menu before
you view the replay?

Anyway, I have always thought that the moving arms are the most
stupid things ever to occur in a Papy sim and I refuse to have
them in my***pit.  Like with the F10 view, you have to ask the
honest but blunt question. Why?

GPL Drivers arms question.

For over a week now I have been driving with the arms OFF!

For almost 18 months I used the arms religiously.......NOTHING would make me
turn them off.  Why the change of heart?  I found that I was being
distracted if the wheel was not "on centre"!!  It would irritate the hell
out of me to the extent that I was spending more time concerning myself
about an out-of-kilter ***y wheel than  was looking at the road ahead!

So off went the arms and, to be honest, it took some sessions before I felt
comfortable with this new, very bare-looking,***pit.  My driving hasn't
improved but at least now I look at the road and not the ***y wheel :-)

I am in PRECISELY the same situation, except that driving without the
arms HAS decreased my lap times. On some tracks by as much as 2
seconds.

It's so less distracting!

Did the same myself, but in the interests of frame rate
 - well worth it in software.  The arms didn't bother
me either way, though one or two of my mates found the
'four arms and two wheels' thing off-putting!

Originally I drove with the arms off for framerates, but when I got my
new PC I put them on because I thought it looked better. Changed them
back about a week ago and my laptimes came down. Not much, but a few
tenths a lap makes a difference!

You can switch arms on before watching a replay. Of course kinda annoying.

Thinking back to my twitchy joystick, I needed the arms.
