Ok, here it is the awaited VGA hack for the Rendition cards (replaces
mode13 with VESA 320x240). It worked fine for me, but be aware I am not
responsible for hurricane, lightning, tornado, tsunami, volcanic eruption,
earthquake, flood, and other Acts of God, misuse, neglect, unauthorized
repair, damage from improper installation, broken antenna or marred
cabinet, incorrect line voltage, missing or altered serial numbers, sonic
boom vibrations, electromagnetic radiation from nuclear blasts, customer
adjustments that are not covered in the joke list, and incidents owing to
airplane crash, ship sinking, motor vehicle accidents, leaky roof, broken
glass, falling rocks, mud slides, forest fire, flying projectiles, or
dropping the item. With that out of the way, here you go =)
Goto DOS (I use Win95's command prompt: F8 during bootup then option 6) &
enter the de*** by tying DEBUG
Then type (XXX:XXX are the de*** prompts. You must type what comes
after):
a
XXX:XXX MOV ax,1585
XXX:XXX MOV bl,N (That's the letters B and L, where N=2 for fast,
1=midway, 0=compatible)
XXX:XXX INT 10
XXX:XXX INT 3
XXX:XXX <ENTER>

A cold boot will reset the board back to defaults. My 3DBench scores went
up from 27.7 to 100.0 (using the modified 3DBench that displays 100+)
Unfortunately this doesn't translate over to Nascar. It looks like Nascar
uses Mode X not Mode 13, and my framerates were exactly the same
before/after. According to Erick Cid, Decent2 and Destruction Derby do
speed up. It looks like it is just a hit/miss kinda thing. Good luck.
As always, your mileage may vary.
