I was once able to run a lap of about 197 (unofficial) in the draft, but
now I have lost the setup when I reinstalled. Can anyone help me with
it. I can now only get a top lap of 194 and no where close to that.

It's probably not your setup - Nascar 1.0 was about 5mph faster than
the same track&setup under Nascar 1.21.

If I remember right (and I could be wrong) but I thought Talladega
was a lot slower with version 1.0 than 1.2 0r 1.21

No, I could hit 206 comin off the backstretch of Talladega in 1.0, but
can't in 1.21, it's hell getting the damn thing to hit 200 now

I'm not sure what sim y'all are using ;-) but in 1.0 I could hit 220 easy
on the backstraight. 1.2 and 1.21 however placed the restrictor plate on
the carb-intake and dropped speeds considerably. I can get 200 on the
backstraight if I'm lucky but I've heard of 205's. I have a setup that
will, supposedly, get you a 205.???. I'll post it to
alt.binaries.simulators.autos and you can see what you can do. The secret,
from what I've heard, is to have 4th gear at 3.5.

Hey folks
Don't forget that in version 1.2 of Nascar there is a
restrictor plate fitted to the cars for Talladega track only.
You can remove it for the Talladega TXT file.
Remove the 1 and replace it with a 0 on the line SPDWY
I have been able to get around 20 to 25 MPH extra. To make it
fear for the computer cars you will have to change the value
on the RELS line as well.

And in the demo it was even faster... I remember that I could hit 205 while
driving with the KEYBOARD!

Hi Mike
In ver 1.2 of Nascar a restrictor plate has been added to the
engine to slow them down as per real racing. To remove it you
need to edit the Taladega.txt file on the line SPDWY.
Change the first number from 1 to 0. (1 for restrictor plate
fitted.... 0 for not.)
Bear in mind though you will have a unfear addvantage so you
may want to increase the value on RELS line for the computer
cars.
