Talladega fast laps

Got the NASCAR demo the other day. The best I seem to be able to do is a
lap of 210.012. Of course that's 15 mph faster than they really ran the
last few years. The detail seems to be a little rough overall though. I
think I know what that problem is. I've seen a few games ( like Unnecessa
Roughness by Accolade ) with both SVGA and VGA versions. The programmers
seem to tune the SVGA version untill it looks fantastic, but it dosn't
translate well to VGA. Maybe it'sjust the track, some tracks in Indycar
look better than others. Also, the VESA requirment for the SVGA version
probobly means the CARD must be VESA compliant, not the motherboard.
Most modern quality ISA cards are VESA compliant (my Diamond Stealth is)

The laps you run were right near what Talledega was before the restrictor plate
was used. The question for you is, how is your motor tuned???? Do you have the
plate on or are you running full bore?  I'm not a computer owner, but I do read
this once in a while and I'm a good Nascar Fan. The Actual Qualifying record
for Talledega was about 212 and change (correct me if I'm Wrong).
                                        Just my 2 cents

I think the confusion here is that their are two (at least) standards
that go by the name VESA.  There is the VESA local bus standard for
video cards which is a hardware standard and there is the VESA SVGA
standard which is a software interface standard.  To run the NASCAR SVGA
version (in the game, no demo), you will need a VESA driver.  This is a
bit of software that knows how to do SVGA things using your card and
presents a standard interface to the game.

I ran a lap at 211.997.  This is just a demo and won't let you do any
car setup. The biggest transition I have had to make between Nascar and
ICR is the steering sensitivity.  I really have to crank the joystick
to make the short turn on the backstretch of Talledega whereas in
ICR a slight move of the stick moves you quite a bit.

I really like the demo so far and am looking forward the
full game.  I'm only running a 386-25 so I  won't be able
to get full benefit of the game :-(.
