TD4 stuttering, no 3Dfx in NFS2se

I could use some advice. Some of you have probably already tackled these
problems. My system is a Celeron 400a, 64MB RAM, Abit BH6 motherboard,
ATI Rage plus STB Blackmagic Voodoo2 for video, Soundblaster AWE64 ISA
for sound, and IDE HD/CD-ROM. I'm using Win95 OSR2.

Problem 1: Test Drive 4 stutters. Sometimes it pauses for a second or two,
which really sucks in the middle of a game. I turned off read-ahead
caching for my CD-ROM in the control panel--no effect. I installed the IDE
Bus Master drivers that came with my motherboard--no effect, plus the
whole computer slowed down. Any other ideas?

Problem 2: Need for Speed II SE says it supports 3Dfx, but it can't find
my board, and makes no mention of 3Dfx during the install or running of
the game. Any ideas? I bought it as part of a 3-pack with Moto Racer
(also has problems detecting 3Dfx) and Andretti Racing (don't care).
TD4 and other 3Dfx-using programs work with my 3Dfx card, just not the
games in this bundle.

I also want to get Grand Prix Legends, if I can find it in a store near me
(not at Best Buy or CompUSA). Is it likely to have these same problems?

I'm just getting back into PC ***. I gave up on PC *** three years
ago due to stupid config problems like this. I actually thought things had
advanced in the past three years. Wrong! :) But I like driving sims, and
the best are on PC, so I'm trying to make this junk work.

Any advice is appreciated.
