Don't know why everyone has problems with this game (installing and/or
running)... I used WinZip and told it to extract to a directory of
NFS and it handled the multidirectory install with no problems.

It's NOT Nascar but it is arcade style driving fun (I'm sure they're
trying to beat "Ridge Racer" to the punch, also soon to be ported to
PC) and it has some great points.  Good sensation of speed (even a
tad better than Nascar IMHO) and nice effects such as leaving skid
marks on the road (try a few donuts on some open asphalt).

Download and play the demo awhile and you'll get ***ed to it...the
graphics are great and very fast while the sound is fair to nice. Does
anyone know if it is in the stores yet or when it will be?

Well I've tried that 3mb demo and on my 4/86 SLC2 66 , it looks like
krap too me !
The feeling on driving the car seem very poor , maybe the frame Rate
wasn't good but it was fairly slow on my PC.

If I compare it with F1GP , well ... what the hell I'm I saying ,
Nobody can compare F1GP with nothing else , Even if it is 3 or 4 years
older than NOS , F1GP will always be the number one Sim and in the
Hall of Fame of Sims for Ever ! Not Need of Speed !

 Just my thoughts !

Well, I totally agree with you on F1GP, but mostly because all the other sims
are to demanding on your PC (even if you have a P60 like me).
I played the demo this morning and it went rather slow (it felt like a lag in
response time - reaction too slow, so overdoing it becomes too easy, which
ultimately results in a very good crash)
I must say, however, that the display of the crash is very cool and the
graphics are awesome !

So, people out there with your P90 and +, try the game, you'll love it... much
action, awesome graphics, great sound etc. etc., but for the real sim joy
stick to F1GP :)

Hmm...If your saying the Need for Speed Demo ran slow on your computer, I
have a Packard Bell P60 (admittly, one of the slower versions of the Pentium
family), with 8megs RAM, and it was great!

NFS runs fine on my dx2/66 in regular VGA mode.  May a P90+ if you want to run
it in SVGA mode, but anyone with a 486dx2/66 or higher should still pick it up
because it runs really well in VGA.

I have also tried the demo on my 486/66 with 8 megs of ram, VESA video
accelerator card, and found you have to turn down all the detail and
shrink the size of the display to it's smallest setting to get any kind
of usable response.  On max. detail, the graphics are quite good but
the game is, IMHO, totally unplayable on anything less than a Pentium 90.

I am NOT suggesting that game makers lower the quality of their games
to the lowest common denominators, but I would bet money that the majority
of PC owners who would be interested in this type of game do not YET have
that kind of processing horsepower.  In a couple years, sure, the 486 will
be looked upon as the 286 is looked upon now, but please EA, make games
that I can play properly in the meantime !   NFS with all detail turned
off so that it's playable has graphics that look like the old Space
Invaders of the early 80's !!!
