Uh, oh... New NR2003 Cheat?

by Larr » Mon, 12 May 2003 14:35:45

Guys, I hate to say it but I think there is a new cheat out there :(

I just ran in an open 2x Dega Race (it was a disaster - I should have known
better).

The length was set to make a pit stop mandatory.

Everyone who didn't pit ran out of gas.  EXCEPT for one person.  He never
pitted, and won the race by a lap.

He also left the server very, very quickly after the race was over.

Damn...

Sadly it's not a new one, I have heard of someone extending the gas mileage
before.

Papy was supposed to have fixed that NR2002 cheat in NR2003, but I guess
it's back :(

Well, If that is the way you want to "win"!  I need a cheat that makes my
spotter tell me when a car is beside me *before* I am hitting it.  I swear
the spotter timing is off by at least a full second in this game, I need
side mirrors!!!!

No, you need to adjust to your spotter's timing and keep on top of
the situation around you.  If it even looks like someone is getting a
fender under me, I assume that he's a "car inside".  I don't wait for
the spotter.

Man, I hate online cheaters. Offline, I can understand why people would
want to and they have every right. But when a person goes online,
there's no need to give yourself a superior advantage over others (aside
from just being a excellent player).

IMO, they aren't going to garner any respect by cheating. And they
really didn't win. Maybe they're afraid of losing?

Lesson: race with people whom you know and password protect the race.

Besides that, I think you're jumping to conclusions.  To state that there
might be a cheat based on the information given, is a bit presumptuous.

I guess your spotter is bad too.  I pay mine a lot. He does a good job.

Yep.  Maybe he had very good fuel mileage.

Nothing new, just a variation of the RAM cheat.  Papyrus doesn't care.

That  would be great, how do I do that?

So who was that person, so we can avoid races that he's in...?

Actually we do, otherwise we wouldn't have bothered to make the efforts
to encrypt and randomly allocate memory for sensitive physics parameters
in NR2003.  Not to say that one doesn't exist (where there's a will
there's a way), but I've yet to see a working RAM cheat for 2003.  If
anyone manages to come across one, by all means send it in...

Where is the patch, now that I think about it?
It's been 4 months, and no patch?  Strange...  (unless
I missed it)
