Nascar 3 - Stuff which I wished Sierra added

I have played N2, and N3 (skipped N99).  I don't care if Sierra uses
the GPL engine or not, but there are a few option which I wish they
would add, of course I'm sure I'm repeating features many have wished
for years:

1.  Interaction with the crew chief.  This would be done via a headset
connected via your sound card input.  He would ask you things such as,
"how many tires, want to add wedge, take some spoiler out?" etc.  It
could also be where he asks,"how is the car into turn 1?", and you say
tight in, loose off, and he asks,"do you want me to make adjustments?"
Or you could simply say what you want on your next pit stop without
using the keyboard.  Guess the only problem would be learning a
southern drawl (better buy some marbles).

2.  Since they implemented dynamic skids on the track, some on the
walls would be nice also.

3.  Pit stall dependent on your qualifying time when not playing
multiplayer online and of course a pit lane similar to the real
tracks.

4.  Pit crew who actually runs around the car, see a guy go by the
front window, or someone stick a drink inside, or clean the
windshield.  A crew who screws up a pit stop by a wrench going bad or
not screwing on a lug nut.

5.  A computer controlled pace lap for online mutliplayer only, not
when playing single player mode. I could not tell you how many times
I've been clobbered on the pace lap.

6.  Return to Ford, Chevy, and Pontiac, instead of Chassis 1,2,3.

7.  In multiplayer mode, there cannot be more than one car with the
same number.

8.  Dynamic weather changes during a race, maybe a sprinkle of rain,
or clouding conditions.

Now I know some of the GPL guys are going to say N3 is an "arcade"
game and doesn't need this.

Perhaps you should try system commander? You can manually
give pit change orders with the keyboard now I believe. So you
should be able to simply program a game commander template
to do pit changes, and show the different status screens while
you are on the track. It is like having a radio!

I haven't used game commander with any racing sims yet, but it
works great with flight-sims and space-sims.

I would have liked to see a 'look left/look right" command to enable a
driver to check the blind spot...

Would have been great with a HAT switch, and would have added extra
depth.

Perhaps, as in most flight sims, you'd actually be able to look all
around you - even behind!

Then again, there's a lot more freedome for error in the air than
there is on a race track, so perhaps Papy made the right decision and
should ignore my previous suggestion. I think so too.

I would like to see them add monies won for winning a race, leading at halfway,
Bud Pole award and so on...
