GPL Rank...What ?...How ?..Where ?

Take this warning to heart! Before GPLRank I would occasionally go on-line,
have a few races at Monza or Spa, then back to real life.

Ring, then maybe (*#$#$ Mexico, or some other godforsaken track. And I'm at
it each night until I set a PB on some track. Then a quick upload, check my
buddies, check the Nations Cup. And to bed depressed because despite having
cut 5 points off my rank I've dropped 20 positions at the same time!

Fun? Yeah right <g>

How come nobody likes Mexico?  It's really a great place to race once you
get a handle on it.

Yuck!  It's a *** piece of work.  No grip anywhere, can't see where you're
going cause it's all so flat.  Tyres burried in the track, hard to pick your
line through the middle section (the switchbacks).  No really fast bits
apart from the main straight.
Need any more reasons?
:)

Actually I don't mind Mexico that much, I just suck there.

I hated Zandvoort for a long time too, then I found a decent line and
started to like it. Same with Mosport. I'm sure Mexico will have the same
effect eventually.

And I don't hate Mexico as much as Silverstone. I don't know why they even
paved that place. I spend more time on the grass than the track...

Didn't say it wasn't challenging. <g>  But it's kind of like the 'Ring,
rewarding when tamed, and a good place to race.  A long fast straight
funneling down to nearly nothin' creates good passing zones.  Those tricky
switchbacks are there for your competitors to stumble over.

When I first purchased GPl, of course, one of the first things I did was
tour all the tracks.  Didn't like Monaco and I didn't like Mexico.  Two
years later I still hate Monaco, but Mexico is in my top 5 fav's.

Two words.  Concrete tires. <g>  Suppose Eldred thinks the same about
Rouen.

I've just been playing Monaco, and I hate it too, it's just not a race track
is it!  Mexico would be ok if there was a bit more grip, the Ring on the
other hand has tons of grip everywhere, it's just a case of learning the
layout and working out where the pitfalls are.
I get the feeling Mexico is an 'expert' track for drivers who are
technically very good, which probably doesn't include me then. :)
