It can't be a "simulation" of the reality of Formula One if it can model
correctly the basis of the tracks that the racecars race over.  We're
talking about the principles of racing simulations here.  Track modeling is
promordial.

Inaccurate tracks or not, im not a fan at all of F1. 20 cars, no passing
unless theres a crash or its in the pits, and real close racing is defined
by a 1.5sec gap. HOWEVER i will by f1 2002 only for the potential it has in
the mods, its what made SCGT so great. Its unfortunate about the tracks but
they do have limited time and resources, i think tho they really could have
done without those mammoth bumps (they seem more like the mountains in the
alps) that resmble a supercross track more so a road racing track. But
making comprimises is a part of life... i guess.

There are some tools to extract the tracks from F1RC into 3dsmax, but those
who have it, dont want to release them it seems like :(

But you would have to retexture the tracks from what ive heard.

It doesnt bother me really, i play GPL and those tracks arent really 100%
accurate either.

Then GPL is no sim either.. and what about F1RC?, bad physics with good
tracks?. Is that a sim then?

I don't know which Redline member they spoke to, because looking at it......
:(

The altitudes are exaggerated like somebody says they're like mountains.
Bumps are in the middle of nowhere for no reason, then there's banked
corners too, etc.  Curbs are all wrong (see monaco).  Nurburgring is _way_
too narrow, I could go on....  It's a shame the tracks are like this.  I
guess it's because of the tight schedules put on ISI by EA but I really wish
they put some effort into the tracks, (visited each circuit, took a good
1500 pictures, used GPS etc.), because F1RC has shown that recreating tracks
realistically can be done, so hopefully F1 2003 will be an improvement.

Andreas, GPL tracks are *far* more realistic than this - sure, Spa is a bit
off, Silverstone too, but at least it resembles the track.  Just try A1 Ring
in f1 2002 to see what I mean.

F1RC has the tracks, F12001 Has the Physics, Neither have a decent menu
system - but Papy do a good replay system and net code

It's tragic that neither F1RC or F12001 can get it right

There's nothing wrong with the menu system in the demo! Anyone who's
tried it would have to agree.

Oh good god - you actually think that's a good menu system?

Wow.

So A1-ring in F1 2002 is worse then in F1 2001?, cause i thought it looked
pretty good in F1 2001 (compared to incar videos from FIA GT on Eurosport)

Whether it's good or bad it is just menu's.  Fix the dang setup naming
and sorting.  i.e. get them sorted by track and don't make me have to retype
the full name for each tiny change I make.  Do that and the rest of the menu
stuff is small change.  I buy a title for it's racing not it's menu's.

Yes, its like that in F1 2002, you can have your australia setups in one
directory now etc. No need to save the setup
Just test it, if you like it.. save it!.

What's wrong with the menu system? The only thing I hated about F1 2001's
menu system was the way we had to save our setups, apart from that I had
absolutely no problems with the menu system. Did you have difficulty in
selecting a car or track perhaps? Were the icons not big enough for you?
