MOTOCROSS MADNESS 2, has anyone played it with a VooDoo 5 ??

has anyone played this game at 1024x768 with a voodoo 5 or a Geforce 2 yet.
My old 16MB Rage Fury is fine at 640x480 with full details, but is a virtual
slide show at 1024x768. Also, does the antialiasing improve things at any
resolution in this game, given that the game looks great anyways.

On my athlon 700 and geforce it runs ok on 1024 x 768. but still a little
slow so i alwasy use 800 x 600

at 1024x768 all details maxed out and 2x fsaa. It runs at 24 fps.
that with 10 AI riders. I had a Creative GeForce DDR and it  felt
like it ran a little smoother i didn't get to do a fps on it. I will this
weekend. I need to decide if i want to keep the V5 or not.

Does the 2x fsaa improve the graphics at all ? How about 4x fsaa at 640x480
with full details, is that equal in appearance to 1024x768 without fsaa?

Hello Jim,

Try turning "particles" off.  They seem to make a major difference in the
smoothness of the game on the VooDoo 5.

From a quality standpoint, 4x non-uniform sampling using either jittering or
something like 3dfx's "rotated grid sampling" should look better than twice
the resolution without FSAA.  This is because it doesn't introduce artificial
low-frequency edges like uniform sampling does.  So, if texture filtering is done
right, 800x600 with 4x jitterred FSAA actually does look better for geometry
than 1600x1200 without AA.  The 2x mode supported by 3dfx is a surprisingly
good compromise since it doesn't just do horizontal or vertical super-sampling,
but samples on a diagonal.

best wishes,
skp

I've tried it at 800x600 2x and 4x and my framerate only changed
by 2fps. I picked up a Creative GeForce 2 yesterday just to see the
difference. If i bumped it's fsaa slider all the way up the framerates
where the same as the Voodoo 5. When i turned it down the framerates
went up  two or three fps but it looked terrible. Jagged lines at the top of
all the jumps. To me, just a humble gamer the Voodoo 5 just looked better
overal. I'm still playing around but i think the Geforce 2 will go back. I'm
hoping
the Voodoo 5 will pick up some fps with newer drivers.
Thanks
Jim

Jim did you see the speed fix at 3dfxgamers.com?
supposedly if you just update your drivers with the cd you
will "see" the difference.
