Anyone else having a hard time playing N4?

I had all last night to play, and am off today and planned on some racing
getting ready for NC (I was planning on following the whole season in Nascar
outside of championship mode).

But then and today it seems kind of 'silly'.

I feel the same way.  I was planning on following the season the same way as
you, running a few races on each week's course during the days leading up to
the race, figuring that it would enhance the the race-watching experience
each week (which it did during Daytona.)  But I fired N4 up this morning,
and it just doesn't feel 'right.'  I'm sure this feeling will pass, but if
it feels this way to sim-racers, I wonder how it must be for the racers in
the Winston Cup to race so soon after The Intimidator's crash.

Yes.

I was just starting a Dega race when someone came in with the bad news.

After the chat's of disbelief were posted, the read "xxxx Disconnected
Manually" flashes flooded in.

I was among them.

I know what you mean.  I had intended to run a practice race at Daytona Sunday
night on my spanking new computer, and I just couldn't get over the shock.
While I was an "anybody but Earnhardt" fan, he was one I loved to root against
- and the sport will be much the poorer for his loss.

I can't stand to play it anymore for now. I was playing constantly, mostly
practicing my drafting and working on setups at Daytona. No way I can stand to
look at Daytona now. I think Heat and N4 will lie dormant for a while. :(

Funny,  thought it was just me.  I'm going to have to remove the 3 car from
the line up but I just haven't been able to bring myself to do that yet.

I removed it, but it hurts either way. I don't want to see it out there on the
track, but at the same time it leaves an awful big hole *not* having it there.

i have a question and i hope i'm not out of line because that certainly
isn't the intent of this suggestion.

why not leave #3 in the lineup?  you know, as kind of a tribute.  put him
back in after the respect issue has been individually dealt with.  if he
can't race on this earth anymore, why not let him continue on in your games?
while i'm not a fan of nascar at all, i feel the pain of the fans.  when
derrick thomas died, i was crushed.  i thought about taking him off of my
roster, but i thought, "no, if he can't do what he loved on earth anymore,
i'll be damned if i'm going to take away the only way he has left to play
the sport he loved."  and that is through my computer and memories.  kind of
corny, i know, but it is a different (and perhaps happier) way to look at
things and let #3 continue to do what he loved.

                take care nascar fans.

I notice that at http://thepitwagon.hypermart.net/ they will be creating
many early Earnhardt cars for N4. You may not want to run them, but I think
it would be cool to have in my inventory of racecars. They have already
created DE's pink K2 car. Of course, the car style cannot be exact, but the
paint jobs seems quite good.

That's an interesting point...

I can't help but think that Jr. will have an extra 'cushion' around him this
weekend...  Everyone is going to be nervous, and I do not blame them one
bit.

This is confusing times for all...

Anyone else having a hard time playing N4?

I dunno.  As a racer, you do it even when you really don't want to.  I'm fairly
certain that DE raced when Neil Bonnet had his crash.  No doubt he didn't want
to.

Then again, this isn't our living.  It's for recreation.  So, if you don't want
to race it makes sense.  Me, I practiced for an hour and did lousey.  But, I got
out there.  I'll do that again tonight.

I was just starting a Dega race when someone chimed in with the bad news.
We all left.

I then put it away, paid some bills, and kicked back for a while.

I came back to it about 4 hours later, but like everyone else, I was more
forcing myself to get back on the horse, and didn't really enjoy it.

Time will heal this.  The pain will slowly go away.
Saying/thinking/realizing this can sometimes seem like the wrong thing, but
that's simply the way life is.

Somewhat along the same lines, I lost one of my two Golden Retreivers to

it, or own another Dog.  I did (though flashbacks are a ***, if you know
what I mean).  In 1999, I lost his companion, another Golden Retriever, also
of Cancer at age 8.  At that time, she was companion to the Golden I got to
fill in for the first one I lost.  Again, I told myself "No More".  Of
course, that didn't hold either.

Now, I still have two.  One is 4, the other is around 2.

The cycle of life continues...

But, we will NEVER forget Dale or what he's done for us, the world in
general and the sport..
