F1C help!

The problem I'm having is that when I go to a track,
all I get is a light gray screen.  I can see the lights on the steering
wheel (from the in car cam), and at Australia I can see a black structure
that I think is the grandstand, but I don't see the actual people.  It
appears to just be the .3do (or whatever file EA uses) with no texture.  Do
you know what would cause this?
Here's my system specs:

Athlon XP 1600 (1.4 Ghz)
128 Mb RAM
32 MB video card
DirectX 8.1
Win 98se

Everything meets or exceeds the minimum requirements, and the only thing
that doesn't meet the recommended requirements is the RAM.

Any idea?

I don't have the box that F1C came in any longer, but I'm suspicious
of that 32MB video card. I would have thought that it would want at
least a 64MB card (and a fairly fast one at that). I only get mid-
range framerates using a GeForce3 card.

You don't say what chip family your video card uses. nVidea, ATI,
3DFx....? It might be a driver issue -- assuming that the card does
meet the recommended specs.

The box says 16mb vid card minimum, 32mb+ recommended.

Darryl,
I have a 32 Mb GeForce2 GTS video card.  Is there a setting in the sim that
I can turn down that might help.  I've turned everything down that I can
find, but wasn't sure if there was a hidden sumthin sumthin that I'm just
not finding.
I tried running the sim in 640 X 480 16 bit and that didn't help.  I turned
off replays and turned everything off or to minimum that I could find.  I
turned all the sound settings to minimum also.
I'm off to get the latest driver for my video card right now.  Being on a
dial-up connection, I try to troubleshoot everything first before trying to
capture a download.

Wow! I am surprised that the video requirement is that low. Not that
I'm complaining. I hate it when I get a new game for $20 and then
have to spend several hundred dollars upgrading hardware to get it to
run properly. (My wife would kill me if she ever knew how much GPL
has cost me over the years!)

I'm not married yet, so I don't have that problem.  But I haven't trusted the
minimun requirements of a game since I got burned BADLY with GPL...

Is "Enable fog table emulation" checked in your Display properties?  Had
that problem with my FX5200.  Checking that box cured the problem.

I found the problem.  For some reason, F1C didn't install DX8.1 (which I
thought was all ready installed).  It never prompted me install DX so I
figured I was all square.  When I went to check, I had an older version.  I
installed DX8.1 and the sim works beautifully!

Thanks for all the help,
